Hello Cosplayers,
Our journey continues! We are very excited to see the love and support so many of you have shown for our project. We appreciate your response and consider each and every one of you our crew, and we will do everything in our power to keep our crew happy! Based on your feedack, from now on we will have an update every two days, sharing more things with you and on gameplay. Today we have 3 more Daily Unlocks to share: Ground Combat Obstacles, more Opportunity cards and our favourite, the Player Companion.
Ground Combat Obstacles
The Obstacles will add an additional feature in planet and starbase combat. Maybe some cables come loose, electrocuting whoever steps on them, or a nuclear reactor emits radiation that deals damage to everyone each round, or perhaps a meteorite falls, dealing damage on impact and then blocking movement and line of sight. The possibilities are endless and we will find the best to add the most dynamic elements to ground combat.
Some Obstacles will be added by default to specific Encounters, spicing them up. Others might be added randomly, turning the same Encounter into a different experience every time. Although these Obstacles will generally hinder you, the good news is that sometimes they might just be used to your advantage. Remember the loose electrical cables we mentioned above? How about pushing an enemy on those?
Opportunity Cards
Fighting in space is never simple. In every combat there is always the chance that the white chip is drawn from the Enemy Action Stack the White opportunity chip is drawn. When that happens, you get to draw and resolve an opportunity card. Those cards indicate that an opportunity has arisen, which heroes can use to their advantage! Every opportunity card requires your Heroes to make a choice. They can play it safe or risk high to win big. No matter what they decide, the events and choices are thematically appropriate - yes, that means there are five different decks of Opportunity cards, one for each type of encounter! Here is an example of an Opportunity Card.
Of course WORK IN PROGRESS ON THE ABOVE!
We have thought of many things that could happen in any type of battle which could turn the tide. How would you like helping us add even more content on top? We encourage you to send us your ideas for great Opportunity cards via email at [email protected]. We will consider all entries and add any that catch our interest to the pile. The more unexpected, tide-turning opportunities, the merrier!
Player’s Companion
We give you, our crew, access to all the data the USS Freedom had before you hijacked it! In this database you can find information about all known Alien races and their culture! Not only that, but you will get to know all of their tactics, strengths and weaknesses! And not just for them, but for their fleets as well. Every Alien spaceship, its unique technologies and a small guide about how to defeat each one.
Of course, there is also a huge menagerie of the various monsters and Titans and where those creatures might lurk. Lastly, you will find a scientific section, concerning the many space phenomena you might encounter. The prior owners of the USS Freedom took notes on everything! The Player Companion will help you be more prepared for the fight to come, offering tips and outlining various strategies to emerge victorious from the challenges of space. Also in this Companion, every single unique feature of every encounter is thoroughly explained, as well as the special abilities of every Hero and how they work. Due to the quantity of this additional content, the Player’s Companion will be a separate booklet, with more pages than the actual Rulebook.
That's it for our newest daily unlocks. But wait, there is more! We would like to introduce to you some of your fellow crew members!
Let's start with STAR KNIGHT.
Even as a young girl she loved to watch sci-fi movie trilogies, preferably the most old ones.. When she dressed up as one of her dark heroines, she never expected that her dream will become a reality. She is really a kind polite young girl, but she is trying to behave arrogantly and confidently, as she thinks her character would.
Star Knight is the ideal striker to have when facing really tough opponents with lots of armor. Her energy blades cut like butter though even the thickest monster skin or metallic armor. She is reasonably mobile but also considered a glass cannon as, although she can deal increased damage, she can not absorb much herself. To actually make the most out of her, combine her with a tank to absorb the incoming damage and have her strike the enemy when not expecting her to deliver some pain.
On the ship, she is one the best crew members to handle the engine. She can repair nearby ship damage and produce a lot of power. When increased firepower is needed, she is second to none, as she is able to send to the Weapons twice the power than the engines produce. She should be selected as a crew member especially when facing Titans that need a lot of damage to be hurt.
Now, let's take a look at JACKAL.
Jackal is not your friend. In fact is almost no one's friend. Most Cosplayers consider him a loner. At first glance, people might think that he is taking his roleplaying too seriously. The sad truth is that he is not acting; he was an actual soldier, although no one knows more details. No one remembers him before he retired from the army and some even say that not even he remembers who he truly was.
Jackal has an exceptional understanding on how artillery works from his prior life as a soldier. Therefore, he is amazing at fine tuning the weapons of the USS Freedom, allocating power from one weapon to another, thus allowing you to hit the right shield with the right weapon. He also jas the ability to increase the damage inflicted from a Weapon significantly when focusing his fire on a specific shield. On the battlefield he lets his animalistic rage take over, hitting his enemies multiple times and critically wounding them for increased damage.
And lastly, CLEOPATRA:
An arrogant rich Influencer in her real life, she takes her role very seriously. She demands that everything goes the way she wants and most of the times this happens naturally; other times, not so naturally. Even as a child she was spoiled and obsessed with Egypt and mummies. Now she enjoys every moment of her new life!
Cleopatra is really useful handling the shields of the ship. She does not excel in empowering a shield. However, she has the unique ability Frequency Harmonics: whenever the four quadrants of the ship have equal shield power, that power doubles. This means that she is the most valuable crew member when fighting faster ships, where you have to rely on Shields and not speed to evade attacks. She also shines when facing starships that inflict area damage across multiple shields rather than attacks focused on one shield.
However, her most unnatural power is her Curses, which influence the effects of enemy attacks either during Space or Ground Combat. She can alter the damage of enemy attacks, or even alter the abilities themselves. Her ultimate ability is that she can remove an enemy ability after it is used. This means that she might be the only solution when fighting the most powerful of enemies where the ship can barely endure one of their attacks, let alone a second one.
There are 32 Heroes in total and we will showcase them all for you in the following days! Thank you for being so active and supportive. We appreciate every single feedback and idea. We will see you again soon! Man the Thrusters and set the course for the next Sector!
